HELICOPTER TOUR OF MEADE GLACIER AT SKAGWAY

After putting on flight equipment and special boots for the ice we boarded a helicopter at Skagway. After a 20 minute flight we landed on Meade Glacier. Our guide took us for a 40 minute walk on the glacier explaining the different features. We observed holes and cracks about 90 feet deep caused by the glacier as it moved down the mountains. This glacier is receding because more ice is melting at the end than ice is being made back into the mountains.
This was our first helicopter flight and we were apprehensive. But after a few minutes into the flight it was an enjoyable one. Photo 1 shows our cruise ship taken from the helicopter. Photo 2 shows a picture of the beautiful scenery. The rest of the photos show things while we were on the glacier.
