GLACIER BAY

Glacier Bay featured two of the biggest glaciers. The first photo is the Lamplugh Glacier. It goes back into the mountains about 8 miles. Margerie Glacier(photos 3-6) is a 21-mile-long glacier. It is about 1 mile wide and 250 feet above the water line. Photo 4 shows a water fall created by the glacier melt. We could hear the roar of the waterfall. On our way out of Glacier Bay we did see whale spouts and humpbacks. We used binoculars for those far away. Our ship hit a whale when it made its journey back to Vancouver, BC after we disembarked at Whitter, AK. The last photo was taken from the internet news showing the dead whale still caught on the bow of the ship. It had to have happened between Ketchikan, AK and Vancouver. Otherwise they would have seen it when they docked a Ketchikan. Those passengers got a close look at a whale unlike our distant views.
